Children, adolescents and young adults with learning disabilities make up more than half of all pupils with special educational needs at schools in Germany. They can be educated in shared learning and in special schools. Regardless of the place of learning, they need instruction that is specifically designed to address their individual strengths and weaknesses, provides intensive support in learning areas that are central to their lives, and offers them emotional encouragement and social support.
